Iowa Environmental Council
Sarah Green is the executive director of the Iowa Environmental Council, where she leads the state’s largest environmental coalition advancing clean water, clean energy and a healthy environment for all Iowans. With a career rooted in nonprofit leadership, Sarah brings expertise in philanthropy, advocacy and coalition-building to drive meaningful policy and community impact.
Prior to joining IEC, she served as vice president of philanthropy and community engagement at Lutheran Services in Iowa, where she expanded funding streams, strengthened community partnerships and helped grow critical programs serving vulnerable populations across the state. Sarah currently serves on the Iowa Food Systems Coalition Steering Committee and has previously held board roles with the Volunteer Center of the Cedar Valley, Iowa, Food Coop, and Westminster Presbyterian Church. She holds a master’s in public administration from Drake University and a bachelor’s in leisure, youth, and human services from the University of Northern Iowa.
Sarah lives in West Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband, Brent, and their two sons, Cameron and Bennett.
